“Sorry if I startled you.” Tiana said as she got closer. “I just thought I’d introduce myself. I know most everyone in New Orleans, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before.” Tiana looked him up and down. It was certainly a face she would never forget, that was for sure. “My name’s Tiana, what’s yours?” she held out her hand for a handshake. “What exactly are you doing out here, if you don’t mind my asking.” 

“Quite alright my dear. No you probably haven’t seen me at least not in person. This is my first time in the Mississippi River delta you see. You may have heard my radio show (trying to keep somewhat accurate for the temporal setting of PatF), Sir Nigel Thornberry’s Animal World. I’m Sir Nigel Thornberry.” He shook Tiana’s hand vigorously. “Pleasure you meet you my dear. I’m here studying the nocturnal activities of the local alligator population. I hope you don’t think me rude but, what is a nice young lady like yourself doing all the way out here? I would think one of your youthfulness should be with friends or in bed at this hour.”

“Oooh, my” Tiana shook, almost violently as Nigel shook her hand. She laughed. “Pleased to meet you Sir Nigel Thornberry. I have heard your radio show, once or twice. I’m afraid I’m usually too busy working to listen to much of the radio though.” Tiana shrugged and plucked absentmindedly at the surrounding leaves. “If you wanna study alligators, you should meet my friend, Louis. I’m sure he’d be happy to tell you anything you’d like to know about them. He plays the trumpet in the jazz band at my restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. Maybe you’ve heard of it?” She smiled, hopeful. 
“Oh, well,” Tiana shrugged again. “I guess I just wanted to get away for awhile. The bayou holds some special memories for me.” Tiana listened wistfully at the frogs croaking. Ever since turning back into a human, Tiana wasn’t able to communicate with every animal, like she had when she was a frog, but she could still understand what they were saying. They were singing a song tonight, could Nigel understand it, or was it just croaking to him?
